Winter Transfer Window Updates

It is traditionally very difficult to get deals done in the January transfer window. We started off really slow, only seeing significant moves taking place in these last couple of days with Chrsitian Eriksen’s move to Inter Milan the pick of the bunch so far. With a couple of days to go we expect further deals to happen, with Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes expected to be announced any minute now by Manchester United, with the likes of Piatek, Giroud and Cavani still looking to change clubs in search of regular first team football.

Krzysztof Piatek // Tottenham (2.00)

Spurs have been favourites to land the Polish striker since the extent of the injury to Harry Kane has been revealed. Unfortunately this news has strengthened AC Milan’s position as the Italian club is holding on the €30 Million asking price for the striker. Tottenham’s acquisition of Steven Bergwijn has put the club in a better bargaining position but Jose Mourinho will surely push Daniel Levy to complete this deal with the Champions League qualification now in balance.

Olivier Giroud // Inter (1.60)

Antonio Conte has been crying out for his club to strengthen his squad and they have responded with the additions of Ashley Young and Christian Eriksen. Now he is requesting a final push, with Olivier Giroud his top priority. The Frenchman wants to be a regular starter for the upcoming Euros and has seen himself drop behind Tammy Abraham and Mitchy Batshuayi in the Chelsea hierarchy. Given Inter’s proficiency in this window a deal is most likely to be struck by deadline day.

Edison Cavani // Atletico Madrid (1.42)

The Uruguayan center forward has seen himself fall down the pecking order at PSG but has no intention to play second fiddle to Mbappe, Neymar and Icardi anymore. He made his intentions clear and even named the club he wants to join. Yet, PSG refused Atletico Madrid’s latest bid of around €15 Million and are holding on for more. Simeone is desperate for a striker given his team’s struggles in front of goal this season and will push his club to try and make this deal happen. Most likely it will go down to the wire, but it will happen.
